Ise Ai-zome is our traditional Japanese Indigo dyeing brand that uses compost dye produced from organically grown (no pesticide and no chemical fertilizer) Indigo plant (Persicaria tinctoria) and dye vat fermented by lye solution only. While it is rare to find dye studios practice completely traditional method, our production system has been carefully developed to preserve power of fermentation.

Based in Inabe City, Mie Prefecture Japan, we organically cultivate indigo (no pesticides, no chemical fertilizers), produce dye (Sukumo), and operate the largest Indigo dye experience studio "Ai-zome Studio - Ise Ai” using carefully restored the traditional fermentation method that established in the Edo period in Japan.

Probiotics of Indigo dyeing has saved us from our health issues such as skin trouble, cold sensitivity, bronchitis, and depression.
While it's rare to find a studio that claims the true benefits of indigo based on scientific data, we’re promoting the experience of the benefits of indigo, caring for the environment by discharging the fermented dye solution into the soil, and inheriting traditional Japanese culture.
